Laguna Beach One of the Priciest Pieces of Real Estate in California

Let’s be honest: Laguna Beach real estate properties are quite expensive maybe you could even say very expensive. If you are looking to buy into the Laguna Beach real estate market, you had better prepare up to $2,000,000 because that is the median home price at the moment for that market. Though the soaring prices for homes in Laguna Beach are nice for the existing homeowners there, the downside is that these same homeowners just cannot afford to purchase homes in the same community because the median home price is so high, and residents are either middle-class or upper-middle-class fixed income earners who lack the resources to buy new homes under the current price trend.

The same holds true for many other coastal communities in the southern California region. People in such communities are classified as asset rich/income poor (or are casually known as House Rich and/or Money Poor.) This means even if they managed to sell their existing Southern California home at the median home price, it still wouldn’t be enough for them to be able to buy new homes in the area.

The Rich and Famous
Perhaps it is this atmosphere of pricey real estate that has drawn many rich and famous people to invest their wealth into Laguna Beach and Southern California properties. Many personalities from the film industry either take their vacations in Laguna Beach or outrightly own homes here.

A prime artistic and resort oceanfront community
If you are one of the people who have owned a home for a long time in Laguna Beach, or have been lucky enough to be able to buy a home here, then you are truly in luck. Laguna Beach is presently considered among the most environmentally-conscious Southern California cities. In fact, the city council of Laguna Beach unanimously chose to take part in the US Mayor’s Climate Initiative in February 2007. This only serves to make this city more of an ideal place to live and vacation in. Another factor that draws people to Laguna Beach is its reputation as a prime artistic and resort oceanfront community.

Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County (on MTV)
If you have been ignorant of the existence of Laguna Beach in the past, then obviously you have not been following the popular reality TV show on MTV channel, called Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. This show has helped bring more favorable publicity about Laguna Beach since the show follows the daily lives of eight young people residing in Laguna Beach who have just graduated from high school and are preparing for the next stage in their lives. Since this is a drama-oriented reality TV show, it has helped make modern-day celebrities out of these eight youngsters who use their real names on episodes aired on MTV. Though some viewers have criticized the show (and of course its cast since this is a reality-TV show) for being (among other things) spoiled, immature, childish and even petty, there is no denying that the show has a following which may make more people not only aware of Laguna Beach but also make them want to visit to see what all the hubbub is about.
