Nuovo Palazzo Vecchio

Symbolic monument of political power in Florence it is the centre of the city since his development. It is an important buildings either for its artistic or historical importance, it was begun in 1300, to plans by Arnolfo di Cambio, as the Palazzo dei Priori.

Palazzo Vecchio has an high structure with an embattled tower. It became the Palazzo della Signoria because it was the seat of Signoria in XV century, then with Cosimo de’ Medici shifted it became the residence of all Medici’s family. On this occasion Giorgio Vasari transformed Palazzo Vecchio in a sumptuous royal palace, the public can admire frescoes, the Salone dei Cinquecento and the Quartiere di Eleonora. There are works of Ghirlandaio, Salviati, Bronzino, Michelangelo, Donatello.
