Condos for Rent in Toronto
Looking online is probably the most common method of finding an apartment to rent these days. You have many different options for finding the perfect apartment, right at your fingertips. There are a few different ways to go about this, so I will make some suggestions.
The first way is to look at online apartment listings or directories. If you do a quick web search, it should be easy to come up with a few directories to look at. This is not to be confused with online classifieds, which we will come to in a second. Online apartment rental directories focus solely on renting apartments, sometimes even in one particular city, which can be very helpful.
You should be able to set the search terms for the exact kind of apartment you are looking for, choosing the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and more. You can also usually search for things like balconies, parking, laundry, transit access, pets, and more. Be sure to take advantage of these features, but also try broadening your search if you aren’t quite finding the results you are looking for. Sometimes if you are willing to compromise on one or two aspects, you can find a great deal.
Online Classifieds and Web Searching
Another way to find Toronto condos online is to search online classifieds services, such as Craigslist. Your preferred newspaper might also have an online version of their classifieds, so be sure to check that as well. Be cautious, though, because these places can sometimes be a perfect home for scams or low-quality rental agencies. Use common sense, and be sure to do your research before committing to anything.
One final way to find condos online is to do a simple web search using a term such as “Toronto condos” This will usually result in some apartment directories, but it may also help you find some actual rental agencies. These agencies are responsible for the actual rental properties, and you should be able to contact them directly to see if they have any vacancies. They may also own buildings all over town, so this can be a good option if you aren’t set on a particular neighborhood, but the agency itself is of high quality.
Things to Watch Out For
There are some things to watch out for when looking for an apartment to rent, especially if this is one of your first rental properties.
Be on the lookout for scams at all times, especially when looking online. There is a common scam on sites like Craigslist where a scammer will pretend to be a property owner out of town (or out of the country) and will ask to do business without meeting in person. Never, ever, ever do this. Never give your bank information—or even your personal information such as address, full name, or anything else—to someone that you haven’t met in person at the property that they are trying to rent out.
Additionally, even if you do meet in person, never feel obligated to continue with the rental process if the building, neighborhood, or property manager makes you feel uneasy. Remember, you will have to live in this building and area, and see this property manager every single month. There are sure to be more available Downtown Toronto Condos just around the corner, so never put yourself in an uncomfortable situation that you might later regret. Listen to your instincts.
