Knoebels Amusement Resort – Largest US Free-Admission Amusement Park

Knoebels Amusement Resort is the perfect local getaway and all inclusive vacations for families in northeast Pennsylvania. Located in Elysburg, this amusement park is one of the few in the United States that does not charge an admission fee. Parking and entertainment are also free. Knoebels offers a full range of activities to enjoy including, amusement rides, entertainment, camping, and golf. This family-oriented resort is perfect for children and adults alike.

Camping – Knoebels Lake Glory Campground is the perfect place to relax after a long day at the park. Rates are very reasonable and sites range from primitive tents sites to cozy cabins to cottages. The campground is excellent for visitors looking to spend a few days in the area.

Swimming – Knoebels features the Crystal Pool complete with diving boards and fountains. There are several waterslides and plenty of room for tanning. The pool area is the perfect place to hang out on hot summer days. Admission to the water area is separate from the rest of the park.

Rides – Knoebels offers a wide variety of rides of children and adults of all ages. Children can enjoy mini-versions of traditional amusement rides including helicopters, bumper cars, and a merry-go-round. Adults can be spooked in the Haunted Mansion (this is one of my all-time favorites!) or catch rings on the Grand Carousel. The Phoenix roller coaster has been a highlight of Knoebels since 1985. It has been on many top 10 roller coaster lists and it remains to be my favorite roller coaster ever. Prepare for a wild ride! For a unique indoor musical ride experience, check out the Cosmotron. For a mild ride experience, the giant ferris wheel and scenic train tour are two great options. The park generally opens 1-2 new rides each year. For rates and ride pass information, click here.

Entertainment – The Knoebels Bandshell and the Roaring Creek Saloon offer varied entertainment throughout the summer. Check out the events calendar for more information on show times and performers. All entertainment is free of charge. Benches are available at the bandshell and guests may bring their own chairs.

Food – The food is the one best reasons to visit Knoebels. There are many delicious dining options available. The Alamo is great family restaurant right inside the park. Beat the heat in their air conditioned dining room while taking a break from the rides. The food is great and service is efficient. The food court has an endless variety of foods with something for everyone to enjoy. Be sure to stop by the Old Mill for ice cream, the sundaes are simply amazing. There are also several picnic pavilions located throughout the park. Groups or families may bring their own food and drinks into the park. For large groups, Knoebels provides reserved pavilions and catering.

Golf – Three Ponds Golf Course is an 18-hole course near the amusement resort. Knoebels offers a special deal for campers and cottage renters. Golfers can play either 9 or 18 holes and there are 4 sets of teeboxes.
